Monitor and evaluate on a continuing basis pending legislative,
regulatory, and legal action at the federal, state, and local level,
which may have an impact on the management of human resources.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
1.
Present a legislative report or update to the Chapter President and
fellow chapter members.
2.Inform
elected officials of SHRM’s position on legislation affecting the
human resources profession. Work in close cooperation with the
State Public Legislative Affairs Director and the national
headquarters staff in carrying out these tasks.
3.
Monitor federal, state, and local governmental activities and
provide timely information to Chapter members on public issues.
4.
Initiate action in response to legislative alerts under SHRM’s
grassroots legislative action program after coordination with State
Legislative Affairs Director or national headquarters staff.
5.Serve
as program speaker and/or advocate at chapter activities or other
professional meetings.
6.May
develop and support workshops and seminars, which address public
affairs issues.
7.
Respond to any other requirements of the Chapter President and State
Legislative Affairs Director.
8.Inform
chapter members about HRVoice Programs and how to use the
letter-writing feature on the SHRM web site.
9.
Promote within the chapter, increased knowledge and activities for
influencing legislation.
10.Write
regular legislative updates for chapter newsletter.
11.Secure
at least one ad for the upcoming year’s roster.
12.
Participate in the development and implementation of short-term and
long-term strategy planning for the chapter.
13.Attend
monthly Executive Board meetings.
14.
Represent the chapter in the Human Resource community.
