Act as
financial officer and advisor to chapter, keep financial records,
make payments, and report to the membership on the status of the
treasury. As financial advisor of the chapter, the treasurer must
be in a position to assess the financial implications of proposed
actions by the Board of Directors and inform the committee prior to
final decisions being made. Also, the treasurer must observe the
financial direction of the chapter, recognize possible financial
problems, and bring such problems to the attention of the Board of
Directors for action.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
1.
Receive, hold, and safeguard in the capacity of a trustee and
financial agent all funds of the chapter.
·Issue
receipts at all chapter functions, keeping a copy of the receipt for
chapter records.
·
Maintain the BOX for historical records.
2.Record
all transactions. Maintain and balance chapter checking account.
·Record
all checks written and all deposits made.
·Make
chapter fund deposits into correct chapter account.
3.
Disburse such funds only for normal and usual uses unless the
Chapter’s Board of Directors shall otherwise direct.
4.
Safeguard the key to the SHRM PO Box.
5.Write
checks for payment of monthly chapter meetings, monthly Executive
Board meetings, telephone bill(s), reimbursement to Board Members
for expenses incurred in serving the chapter, post office box
rental, facility rental (seminars, etc.).
ALL
CHAPTER EXPENDITURES SHOULD BE PAID BY CHECK.
6.
Coordinate a yearly budget with the President to effectively fund
all chapter activities for the upcoming year.
7.Report
monthly tot he Executive Board (at board meetings) on the current
balances in all chapter accounts.
8.Report
once yearly to chapter at November monthly meeting on the Chapter’s
financial condition. Facilitate internal audit prior to yearly
report.
9.Secure
at least one ad for the upcoming year’s roster.
10.
Participate in the development and implementation of short-term and
long-term strategy planning for the chapter.
11.Attend
monthly Executive Board meetings.
12.
Represent the chapter in the Human Resource community.
